The Best Shoes for Men's Khakis and Chinos

Wondering which shoes to pair with those khakis and chinos? It all depends on the outfit, the occasion, and the look you're going for.

The good news is that because khakis are so versatile, they can be worn with a huge variety of shoe styles. But remember, khakis aren't suit pants, and they aren't jeans. Therefore the trick in wearing khakis successfully is to avoid shoes that are too dressy, or too casual.

Here are a few of the best shoes to wear with khakis.

Sand als

Weather permitting, sandals are a fabulous choice for keeping khakis looking casual. But choose your sandals wisely, lest you get into that dangerous territory where you just look confused.

Bright colors are a definite "don't," as are most sandals with rubber straps.

Instead, look for sleek, stylish sandals like thongs and slides with smooth uppers in black, browns, dusky blues, muted greens, earthy shades or even whites.

Trendier styles, such as those with frayed edges, toe rings, or hardware can really lend an edge to khakis, but should only be worn in very casual settings.

Sneakers

Aside from wearing them with flip-flops, the quickest way to take khakis to their most casual level is by pairing them with sneakers. But even if you're going for a laid-back look, there's no need to be sloppy about it.

Unless you're under 21, in a band, on a skateboard, or have several tats and piercings to support your rebellious ways, it's best to avoid wearing certain sneakers with khakis. Ratty high tops, skate shoes, and puffy white trainers are just a little "too" casual for most occasions.

Instead, look for laid-back slip-ons, earth-toned retro styles, or anything with a bit of European flair. Avoid heavy velcro-straps, big logos, bright colors, and anything that's too "busy" with stripes or patterns.

Casual Shoes: Oxfords, Loafers, Mocs, etc.

There are very few casual shoes that don't work with chinos and khakis. Whether you prefer a lace-up oxford or a slip-on shoe, the main thing to remember is that you want a shoe that works with the rest of your outfit, not one that overpowers it.

To keep your shoes from stealing the attention from the rest of your outfit, avoid styles that have a lot of fussy detailing, wild prints, or features that make them seem overly clunky.

When it's a casual look you're going for, you don't want your shoes to seem like a try-hard. Look for simple, attractive styles in a color that complements the rest of your ensemble.

Dress Shoes: Trendy or Classic

As I said above, khakis are not a substitute for suit pants. However, they can be brought to a level that is quite appropriate for many business settings and dressier occasions.

While most dress shoes will work well with chinos, I prefer to see really shiny black dress shoes saved for suits and other dress pants. But a pair of khakis is the perfect complement for all those trendy dress styles that might be a little too trendy for really formal settings. They're also great for pairing with different materials and textures.

The significance of how the scarf emerged as a fashion accessory as well as its religious significance in the cultures of the world, is little known. The scarf, adorned by a woman from different parts of the world in religion as well as a fashion garment is highlighted. A scarf is a delicate piece of cloth used for protection or as a religious veil or purely as fashion. The oldest evidence of the scarf dates as far back as 1000 B.C., where women in the Chinese sculptures are seen wearing scarves. Scarves known as ‘sudarium’ in ancient Rome, was a handkerchief used to wipe sweat off the face and neck. ater, the Romans modified the sudarium into a scarf. From then on, the scarf was knotted to the belt or worn around the neck by men. When women adopted the scarf, it became a fashion accessory.

Another myth of the scarf centers around the Duke of Krakow, a celebrated explorer. In 1783, the Duke wrapped a self knit woolen material around his neck to keep himself warm. However, he got strangled with his own scarf when it got entangled in his husky pulled sledge. Ironically, the cause of his death was the invention of a woolen scarf. Croation mercenaries have worn scarves since the 17th century. The French were attracted by this piece of clothing and adopted the scarf calling them cravats, from the Croatian word - kravata. By the 19th century the scarf, was a fashion accessory in every man and woman’s wardrobe.

In every religion the name or form of the scarf may be different but universally it symbolizes modesty, sanctity and character. Men and women wear scarves either as veils or turbans as part of their religious attire. Amongst the Muslims, the head scarf worn by women is known as the hijab. The Quran describes the hijab as a curtain that gives muslim women their privacy. The hijab in Quranic Arabic is known as the khimar. Jewish women wear a tichel - a head scarf worn to the Jewish synagogues. Amongst the Hindus, the dupatta is the Indian version of the scarf used to cover the forehead and head. Catholics wear veils to cover their heads, where scarves symbolize holiness.

In Tibet, katas are white scarves that are symbols of hope, prosperity and happiness. As a protective garment, scarves were used by aircraft pilots to avoid breathing in exhaust fumes. Tuareg tribes use a ‘cheche’ to protect themselves from the desert wind and sand. A cheche also known as a tagelmust is many layered covering the head and drapes down loosely to cover the neck.

In regions of Africa and West Indies, women wear scarves as turbans or head wraps to protect the head. Scarves soon entered the world of academic uniforms signifying merit, academic affiliation and distinction. Scouts wear scarves to indicate seniority and units to which they belong. In different parts of the world scarves are known by a variety of names- an ‘ascot’ in England, a ‘babushka’ in Russia, a ‘mantilla’ in Spain or the ‘bandana’ in Italy. Depending on their lengths and use, scarves are also known by names like jabot, ruana, hacking, muffler, do-rags or fichus.

Scarves were glamourized when actors like Grace Kelley and Greta Garbo, stylishly wore them on the silver screen. Made from different fabrics like wool, silk, cotton, rayons and synthetic nylons scarves must be light weight as they are draped around the head and neck. They are given a smooth textured finish so that they flow without sticking.

Scarves come in different shapes and dimensions - rectangular, squares or triangles as also in exotic colors and prints adorned with sequins or tassels. Tied around the neck in different knots or secured with a piece of jewellery, a scarf adds sudden color to a dull outfit. Covering the head with a scarf is traditional, but used as a belt, tied around the forehead or wrist is today’s scarf in fashion.

I have decided that I am going to start on fashion stuff for men as well! So things that I find interesting and needs to be taken note of I will post it up and of course I'll add a url link for the reference of the webpage source!

To kick it off, I will start with the Essentials for Every Man's Wardrobe.

Men's wardrobe essentials - I thought it would be interesting to ask Kim Johnson Gross of Chic Simple Ltd what wardrobe essentials every man should have in his closet. I also asked her for some bargain shopping tips for those of us who want to stretch our wardrobe dollars. The advice she provided gives every guy the essentials he needs for a practical and functional wardrobe that will carry him though many different occasions.

Where to Start?
According to Gross, when it comes to building a functional wardrobe, the first thing a guy must do is assess his lifestyle. Does he need to wear a suit every day? If so, then he will need several suits. Is he in a more casual setting at work? If so, then perhaps he needs more khakis or jeans than trousers or suits. No matter what his particular situation though, there are things every man should have in his wardrobe.

Men's Wardrobe Essentials

A suit (navy or gray)

Black shoes and belt

White dress shirt (good for day and night occasions)

Solid tie - Solid ties are easy and versatile. If solid isn't your thing, try a classic diagonal stripe. Having several tie patterns on hand will ensure you are prepared for interviews, weddings and evening events.

Blue blazer - A blue blazer is good for all year round and easily coordinates with khakis and other items. If that bores you, try a tweed sport coat but also keep in mind that tweed is really only useful in fall and winter. Either way a blazer or tweed sport coat holds a look together.

Casual shirt - A casual shirt such as a polo or button down is a must have to wear with jeans or other casual pants.

A word of advice: start simple and expand according to lifestyle. Classics don't mean boring.

Bargains Shopping Tips
There is only one thing to say - buy on sale! After Christmas or season’s end sales are best. But don't buy something just because it is on sale or is a great deal. It should be something you would want to wear anyway and coordinates with your wardrobe. Also, if you find something on sale that may not have a perfect fit, don't be shy about taking it to a tailor. Buy comfortable clothes that make you feel confident and fit your style.

Three women in KL turned up at hospitals over a 5-day period,
all with the same symptoms - fever, chills, vomiting, followed by muscular collapse, paralysis and finally,death.
There were no outward signs of trauma. Autopsy results showed toxicity in the blood. These women did not know each other, and seemed to have nothing in common.

It was discovered, however, that they had all visited a same restaurant along Jalan Kuchai Lama within days of their deaths. The health department descended on the restaurant, shutting it down. The food, water and air conditioning were all inspected and tested, to no avail.

The big break came when a waitress at the restaurant was rushed to the hospital with similar symptoms. She told doctors that she had been on vacation, and had only went to the restaurant to pick up her check. She did not eat or drink while she was there, but had used the restroom.

That is when one toxicologist, remembering an article he had read, drove up to the restaurant, went into the restroom and lifted the toilet seat. Under the seat, out of normal view, was a small spider. The spider was captured and brought back to the lab,where it was determined to be the Two-Striped Telamonia (Telamonia dimidiata), so named because of its reddened flesh color. This spider's venom is extremely toxic but can take several days to take effect. They live in cold, dark, damp climates, and toilet rims provide just the right atmosphere.

Several days later, a lawyer from JB showed up at a hospital emergency room.. Before his death, he told the doctor that he had been away on business, had taken a flight from Indonesia , changing planes in Singapore , before returning home. He did not visit the restaurant while there. He did, as did all of the other victims, have what was determined to be a puncture wound, on his right buttock.

Investigators discovered that the flight he was on had originated in India . The Civilian Aeronautics Board (CAB) ordered an immediate inspection of the toilets of all flights from India , and discovered the Two-Striped Telamonia (Telamonia dimidiata) spider's nests on four different planes!

It is now believed that these spiders can be anywhere in the country. So please, before you use a public toilet, lift the seat to check for spiders.

It can save your life! And please pass this on to everyone you care about.

There are Male Flashers in One Utama!!

I was walking down ONE Utama about a month or so back.. and while I was coming out of Rock Corner, going down the escalator from the samsung booth and down towards Baskin Robbins, on the bridge, 3rd flr of One Utama, I was stunned to see this!

I was like... ( O.O !) .... what the freakin! I quickly rush over the other side, and it was.. this...

This time I was like =.="

Even this lady over here is like walking off in disgust!

Seriously... you don't get to see these kinds of ads in Malaysia as it is probably bordering the very thin line of the Censorship board of Malaysia. I mean it this is mild when you go to like Europe, Japan, and even the US!

Hmm.. It does catch people's attention.... I guess... and is Malaysia starting to open up (in terms of Advertising and Censorship) ?

It would be Great! Cause.. New creative ways can be used for advertising instead of designers and advertising agencies, scratching their heads and getting stuff rejected from the Censorship Board!

Ahh well ... holidays come and go... this year the CNY celebrations seems to be fast and also seems to be dull-er than last years, and I thought that it was just my family and relatives but my friends also says that this year was not as fun and was dull as it was just like a normal holiday rather than a festive season.

Here are some pictures from my trip to Pahang from Sunday to Tuesday.

Yummy yummy Yee Sang! Our family enjoys our Yee Sang with Pomelo, lots of peanut and lots of garlic,onions & shalots!

My CNY celebrations in Temerloh, Pahang was pretty alright. Grandma was cooking up her famous curry and her other homemade specialties and our regular family steamboat and Lou Sang.

Whiles over in PJ, city celebrations seems to have turned down a notch. My grandma from my dad's side of the family normally cooks up a storm in her kitchen with Popiah, steamed fish, 100% made Yee Sang, and other nice nice food, but this year every one was doing pot luck. So... I dunno... But good thing the 'ang pows' are great! :D

Time for Shopping!

Oh remember the shopping list i made here. Well I finally got my flip flops!

I didn't take a picture cause my camera ran out of batt... I got it from Padini Authentics at 50% discount. only at RM 15!!!

I was tempted to buy 2 pairs ... but yea .. save money, save money.. I kept reminding myself!

I finally found 4 nice Tees!

Ahh today I was at the Curve, original purpose was to meet up with some friends, but thing is since my brother is going to be there @ TGIF for a friend's birthday (Happy Birthday to Mei Fong again! :D ), I decided to join them for a meal with them.

I ordered a Jack Daniel's Chicken, I thought it looked small, but it was quite filling! I could barely eat half of the 2nd piece of chicken breast meat! But I must say the Jack Daniel's sauce was darn good!Jack Daniel's Chicken with mixed sauteed veg and Creamy Mash.

Half way through TGIF, my friends called me as they arrived slightly earlier than what was originally planned!

We (Sarah, Jason, Jane, Shantee Tee, Rachel) met up and we walked around in the Curve.

G2000, Padini Concept, Nichii, Giordano, Tough, MNG, Metrojaya, FOS... Well we didn't find anything interesting, except a few stuff, the girls bought new heels (Vinci), halters (MNG), jeans (Padini), belts (Nichii). Well the guys, me and Dave, Dave just got a new formal buttoned Shirt from Padini, a darn nice one indeed, I mean of course.. the top cost RM120! but really aside from the "nice" price tag, it was a really nice shirt.

Me? Well here is a picture of what I got for the day. :D

btw.. I saw a really nice White Khaki's at Brands Outlet for only RM 49.90 before the 20% discount!

Shopping for Clothes for CNY

Ok.. Last day of classes for now and was suppose to have a group meeting, but our group... well we decided to pass up on the meeting and you know what?? We vowed that after the break, we are going to step up a notch and focus focus on the tasks ahead of us!

Since there was nothing on.. Well the next thing to worry about was CLOTHES!

I need new clothes for not just CNY, but for the year! I have a lot of old clothes that I am dying to throw out or donate to charity and my bro doesn't like hand-me-downs, so I guess that's pretty obvious since my sizes of clothins are larger.

So, Alice, Sherman, Shermaine, Karmen & yours truely, went to One Utama to kick off our day of shopping and relaxation!

Shermaine bought a pretty nice leather Nike messenger laptop bag, Karmen and Alice bought themselves a nice Bro's water container which was on a sale of RM10 from the regular RM15.90. Worth it!

We walked walked walked and over dinner @ the Teh Tarik Place, gossip and talk about the holidays and "bitching" about people.. something that all humans enjoy doing. Gossip, gossip and more juicy gossip!

After the quick bite, we went straight to Kitschen, where I saw this really nice pair of Cargo white cream shorts! Perfect and it has DannyBoy style written all over it!

But! After I tried it out, Shermain noticed that the back pockets were huge! Imagine your wallet moving and juggling all over the back while you are walking! It would make your rear end look like it is flubbering, not like it already is anyways! It was only Rm 49.90 plus that is before 10% discount! Argh! big fat pockets! So I ended up didn't buy it cause of the too big a size pockets!

Well.. my objective was to purchase at least 2 new shirts or tee with one of them being Red. But to no avail I couldn't buy a decent one. The closes one was a Jersey T in TopMen, But the Red well.. though it was my favourite colour,but as Shermaine pointed out, it was not as good as a grey one or a black one, and Karmen wanted to buy one for her Bf, so I don't wanna get one where I know someone will have the same shirt as I do! Well, don't worry Karmen! I think the red jersey T from TopMen would fit your Bf really well! Pity they didn't have an XL for me for the Black one or the Grey. Deng it!

Well I am now at a studio, chillaxing as my fellow band members and I await the previous and already done occupents of the studio to pack up!

Of assignments and holidays

Well its only been the 3rd week of class and it seems that the IAA69s and the 70s seems to be alright, but finding common ground is still in progress.

Assignment wise, group allocations has been chosen by the lecturers, that means that we have a mix of people in our groups. It is a good change I guess.. to know more about our new classmates, see if they can work. I am quite picky on group members. But so far, we haven't encountered any problems or road bumps as of yet.

As of holidays, the Chinese New Year holidays are just around the corner. The first stop for me is on the first day of Chinese New Year, I'll be heading to my Mum's home town in Pahang, Temelor for 3 nights.

It will be my first stop for Ang Pow collection :D

After coming back then I will be heading to my Dad's side of the family's family gathering. SS2, where we have the usual relatives gathering, eating my grandma's popiah, and other Chinese delicacies that my grandma is famous for in our circle of family.

I will be taking some pictures on my travels and feasting for CNY. OH Yea! My family is also making an outstation travel, ust us four, my dad, mum, my brother and I. We haven't had a proper holiday together after our trip to Phuket and Phi Phi Island has been cancelled since Thailand's political controversies and unsettleness makes my parents postpone the trip!

Darn. I miss my friends reunion in Phuket!

Hey all.

I am getting by each day always thinking about how I should move on from my past. my love, and turn over a new page. Every time I seem to try to turn a new page, it always seems to be putting my pen down and ripping away the page of life and starting a new page again. Always on the same place.

It has been tough yes. Life is always about challenges, learning something new and when '$***' hits the fan, you should always learn from your mistakes and it will either make you stronger or make you hit the ground hard.

My church has started a series of missions where missionaries are invited to speak to us and inspire us to do God's work.

Am I fulfilling my mission? I have just started the new year and I am working on my mission for the year. I hope that I am strong willed to find my missions accomplished by the end of the year.

I was trying to have a pleasant day today. I am sure Torrie would have wanted that. For me to have a happy day.

I remember this date far too well in my mind, as if it was just yesterday.

I know I should move on. It is not easy and I am trying. For those who have lost someone dear to their hearts they would understand.

Today went ok. Like any normal college day.

Group meeting for Media, Culture and Society went better than I thought it would. Hopefully things will be better.

Went to the driving range to spend some time with dad, and it helped de-stress my thoughts and forget about the day.

Gossip Girl!

Hey guys! I have been on a gossip girl marathon and it took me 2 days of night to finish the first season! Have been sleeping at 3-4 a.m in the morn. This show officially has topped my list and it is the best TV show I have seen and I am a big big fan!

The reason why I love this particular TV series is cause it was how I grew up as well when I was staying in New York, during my teens, in a private high school with rich rich snobbish students and also a small portion of them are also nice and humble and people who parties a lot and definitely lots and lots of gossip and scandals!

The movie really made me reminisce on my days when I was there. I miss NYC!

Blake Lively is the most beautiful women in the world! In my books that is! She is so flamboyant, happy, has the smile that takes your breath away and many other countless things about her that I love so much!

Tame the bulge! - I know I know.. it is probably on everybody's resolution every year, but for me I really should!
Save money!! - For me I am most of the time an impulse consumer, and sometimes I spend without thinking of the budget I set aside.. so Save MONEY!
To be more confident, focused and know what I want.
Explore more about myself & learn something new. For me,the things that I love to do on my own is cooking and exploring enw recipies and ideas, playing and listening to music, watching movies and my favourite soap-operas 90210, Heroes and Gossip Girls!
Explore and broaden my music playing genre.

Most of my friends know that I listen to all kinds of music and always exploring new music to listen to all the time! Yes.. most of you also know that I play the guitar and the violin. I play lots of blues and guitar influence is John Mayer, Incubus and other artist. So, I am going to explore into other music genre's to increase my playing knowledge. I am done with Blues, am going to kick the year of by starting with Rock!

Malaysian bus transportation system is really messed up!

So it's the first day back to semester 3 of college.. deng .. time passes by so fast during Christmas and New Years.

I decided that since I have classes mostly in the afternoon, I decided to try out taking the bus to college. I have never taken the bus to college, but I have going home, since I'm not chasing time after finishing classes, just worried about how packed the bus can be.

So, I got my mum to drop me off at One U. Gosh! I love One Utama when it is not packed! So I decided to walk around for awhile then I notice this... (see pict below)

I didn't notice the Haagen Dazs so distinctively, but it suddenly made me stopped in my path with my jaws dropped and I started to reminis my time at Tenji Jap Buffet (The one I have been ranting on about ;p) yeating 5-6 scops of lushes Haagen Dazs ice-cream. Yummmmmm....

After that one minute pause. I went straight to the bus stop.

I waited there for over 45 mins waiting for U82 BUS! I mean ... it is one of the most important buses that stops at major places in KL and through out PJ! And most importantly it stops at my college!

I wasn't the only one who was so darn pissed of! There were a whole load of other people who were there, and 2 elderly Chinese women who are from CHina, asked me why it is taking so long, and they said that they have waited over an hour already.

I was like.. yea... that's the Malaysian Bus transport system for you!

That didn't piss me as much as seeing THREE U82 BUSES at the bus stop and the bus drivers went off for God knows doing what. Gees...

it was coming to 2:40 p.m and I was like, "Screw the bus!" In my head of course.

I called my mum instead to drop me off.

Darn buses...

But I am going to try the buses again 2mr ... and this time with pictures.

Absolutely brilliant movie! Simon Pegg's portrayal of Sidney Young is just so fantastic, and the perfect British actor to portray a funny, arrogant Sidney which is perfect, as his character in the movie is a newbie into the media world.

The storyline is great as it can be related to real life as it shows how someone's dreams can be fulfilled if you just do your best and someone times you meet those people who are just a nuisance and always looking to piss you off, but as you persevere you can go higher and be more successful than other people. And also that you someones get people who are willing to help you in the workplace to help you fit in.

The one of the biggest lessons that I can take away from this movie is that when you have an idea you have to stand firm and believe in your own idea in order to get your idea across and make people understand your idea.. or else it will be ignored or think of as a useless idea, but if they did thought that, then don't take it too much but take it as an encouragement and motivation to do better and analyse what went wrong and this will ultimately make you a stronger and better person.

3rd Semester... am I looking forward to it?

Wow I must say that my 3 weeks of holiday passed by fast. Christmas was fast and the New Year celebrations flew fast. And class starts tomorrow!

I don't know if I should look forward to the new semester. I mean sure I am looking forward with the subjects. It's just that we are joining with the IAA69 bunch. The college decided to join up the IAA69 and my class, IAA70. So from our small and nice clas of 12, will be come 20+. I do not look forward to it cause the 69s are a totally different group of people. Not so cheerful, the dull, act cool bunch, the clubbing bunch, silent, and bored look

ing group and most of them smoke (not to say I have any quams of them, but it seems like those with the characteristics listed always seems to be smokers! ).

I really don't care cause I have got 1 more year left before going to my internship and then to RMIT. So I just have to focus on my studies and my life outside of college.

Of course you will probably say that I shouldn't look on the surface of the people at IAA69, I mean we have seen them before and we IAA70 do not fancy them as well.

Here is my timetable for the semester.

Well.. this sem compared to the previous is that I only have one morning lecture, Sales Promotion. The downside is that this semester has 3 days that finishes at 6 p.m. It will be really jam for those who does not stay in PJ. Another downside is that Thursday I have worship practice so technically I have a shorter time in between to rest, dinner, take a shower and go through the songs again before the practice.

I am glad that this college always have Friday off. :D

Friday at Tenji again!

Woah! Yesterday I went with Tenji Buffet again! The first time I went was Christmas Eve which I also dotted down my epicurean's review at this post, Tenji Japanese buffet better than Jogoya!.

The Entourage that came on friday were:

Sarah, Esther, Amanda, Alison, Liang, Me, John (my brother) & Grace

Btw... If you guys wanna go and makan at Tenji, you have to book at least 4 days in advance. Friday the place was packed! Full! They didn't even allow walk-in!

Overall the food was great! But my first time was better, there were some dishes that were there when I first went on Christmas Eve but wasn't there yesterday! :(

Overall everyone enjoyed it! Even Liang is planning to bring his mum to eat there!

Klang Bak Kut Teh / Cendol was soo refreshing!

Well.. my family and I didn't know what to do for the 1st day of the New Year... So my dad was like... ok... lets just go for a drive!

All four of us got into our MPV and drove on.. and we decided to go eat Klang Bak Kut Teh... thats what Klang is famous for.

We dropped by this place where the dwellers over there has recommended to us.
Does not look like a Bak Kut Teh restaurant (pict above), looks more like a house.. well they can say its 'home made' ;p . I guess sometimes the best ones are always hidden somewhere only the locals know.. hidden away from KL people like us. hehe.. YEs.. We found out your secret!

Here is the shop owner, busy preparing the customers. Gosh he probably makes hundreds of Bak Kut Teh everyday!

Here were our dishes! (From left to right) Lettuce stirfried with oyster sauce and garlic, Dried version of Bak Kut Teh (middle) and the Bak Kut Teh (right).

I didn't know that there was a dried version untill my mum told me. She just asked for the meat only, boneless, for the dried one, while the Bak Kut Teh had everything in it.

Here is a close up... basically stewed meat in some black sauce, chilli padi and the special ingredient, the Salted Sotong chopped up to small bits. Its not visible here though. the Sotong bits are choppedto mini cubes and are buried by the meat on top.. It tasted FANTASTIC!

Here is the normal one that we see and eat.

We enjoyed the dried one better than the soup based one... the soup one was fantastic as well... the soup was soo soo 'Heong' (Fragrant) and tasty! But the Dried one was miles better.

Thus we ordered another portion of the Dried Bak Kut Teh! XD

After we left the restaurant and headed back to PJ, we decided to drop by one of our favourite places for Cendol!

This lorry like thing is located near Kelana Jaya Station. Basically going towards Taman Mayang before the turning left into the housing area to Williams.

wow.. i feel like having one now.... ;p

and this picture of my bro eating the cendol is not helping to reduce my craving for the cendol now issit...

It was just so refreshing to have a bowl of cendol... was tempted to order another one... but I have got Tenji in approximately 8 hours time! HAHA! Can't WAIT!

Its a New Day! Hello 2009!

Woah it's 2:45 in the morning, and we all have just stepped into the 1st of Jan 2009! Wow

Happy New Year to all of you, hope your new year will be filled with much joy and blessings to you and your family!

Wow. I just came home 30 mins ago... and GOSH WAS IT JAM! The roads from the Curve going to the LDP was madness! Good Luck going home guys! hehe... Good thing Bandar Utama is oh so convenient!

I was suppose to spend my count down with some college mates at MOS in Subang, but I thought about the jams that could occur and it really just turned me off on joining the gang. I wanted to start the new year properly.

So I went to the Watch Night service instead with my brother.

It was great listening in to people's testimony and how God has touched and impacted people's lives and has worked miracles to changes lives forever.

David and myself wanted to go up and gave a testimony, but we ran out of time. Oh wells.. God knows that I am thankful for what he has done for my life and my family.

After the service I went around greeting friends and wishing them a Happy New Year, and came home cause John felt tired and decided to grab a quick bite at a mamak in TTDI, and headed home. It was great to spend some time with my brother,whilst others went out with friends, I think it is a great change to spend it with my brother, and my dad when i came home and chatted with for awhile.

2009 is a new chapter in my life. Looking back at 2008, it has been a long and tough road for me. Probably the year that I have been through the biggest road blocks, mountain, rough tarrain, traps in my life.. and I am greatful and thankful that God has been through it with me and kept me safe always in times of despair and sadness.

I am also thankful for the friends that I have and friends that I have got to know better this year. I am glad to have great company and people to look up to. It has definately been a learning year forme that is priceless to experience that would make me a better person.

Now the new year, I have a path to construct, an unforseen new experience that I will soon discover. Am feeling anxious but at the same time excited for what is to come.

Here I come 2009... here I come....

It consist of an Apple Pie from McDonalds served with Dark Chocolate Almond Pecans from Nestle Premium selection with some cereal granola.

At 10:45 a.m, you will probably find me still in bed during the holidays, but I got a call that woke me up.. from my bro... saying that we are going to KL for music look-see.

Well as soon as I got off the phone from Jon Koo for confirmation, I straight away got ready. My objective was to go and do 2 things.

To try out the Vox Wah pedal.
To look for the DiMarzio "Chopper" pickup. (in english: a new guitar pickup.)

So as Jon came and picked my bro and I up. I was probably still in sleep mode as I was tryingto study the road to KL so that I can go to the music store in my own time so that I do not have to keep asking Jon to go with me all the time. But I couldn't concentrate got lost as soon as the freeway from Help College onwards. yea.. I know.. but trust me I am no city slicker. You ask me to show you all the nook and crannies in Bangkok I can cause I stayed in the city of Bangkok for 5 years plus.. but I hardly travel to KL ..so do bear withme.. I think I would need a map.

we spent quite a while there.. actually more like 3 hrs plus. I managed to convince my parents to make the quick purchase for the guitarpickup as the music store was having a 25% discount and you don't get too many of that opportuinities coming around. After the music adventures, we all were hungry and headed back to PJ to eat at Ming Tien in Taman Megah and then home.

After Jon dropped us off. I called my parents to see where they were so we waited for them for dinner.

When they came home, my mum wasn't feeling so good. So just my dad and bro went to eat McDonalds.

We didn't eat at Centerpoint McDs, though it was strangely empty than usual that there were hardly anybody dining there! Cause the Centrepoint McD is normally one of the most crowded McD in PJ.

Came home and after we finish eating, Dad decided to eat his Apple pie differently.

You know what.. I do not have my camera with me now.. must be somewhere downstairs..will update to you as soon as I find my camera, on what my dad did for dessert with the Apple PIE!

Well.. Sorry for lack of post.. the reason being was that on boxing day I got the dreaded flu which I was always expecting during the month of December.

Just to let you know.. every December for the pass God knows how many years, I have been catching flu at the end of the year all the time. Basically that's the only time which I get sick as I am quite the healthy fella.

Could it be the change in weather? The dust in my room? From clearing the clot in my room at the end of the year.. I don't know.

It has been a real energy draining weekend for me. Good thing I managed to go to Alice's small birthday celebration with some members of our class... though most of them can't making for a reason or two and I wish them the best during Christmas.

I went there earlier as well to collect tickets for the movie, Australia, for the evening. Haha.. I really do NOT feel sorry for these suckers who have to line up!

So after a rest at home we headed back to One U for the movie at 5:30 p.m. GOOD THING, that most of the crowd has left the mall and we managed to find a parking straight away!

Australia was a Freakin' Good movie! I hardly rated a good movie this year and I hardly ever give higher than a 7 in a rating out of 10. but Australia scored 9 out of 10 in my books! Brilliant movie! It was a 3 hour long movie and it is also an oscar winning movie for sure.

The movie is basically set post Second World War in Australia where a british aristocrat inherited a cattle ranch in Australia and face a hard life while at her time there and she also found love!

It is a brilliant movie, I suggest you go watch it with your mates, partners, family, it is great!

After the movie we were feeling hungry, while deciding on where to feast, I was watching a live Jazz performance by Jazza Nova and they played really good renditions of Christmas Carols such as Silent Night, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and other old classic numbers of Christmas.

I must say they were fantastic... They could be better with me on the Electric guitar hehe. Jazz and Blues is my forte!

After they finished their performance, we decided to eat at New York, New Yor Deli. Located opposite Cold Storage in the New Wing.

The first thing I noticed about the restaurant, was that the seats of the restaurant was a typical American Diner Style, with the plush seats and the C Shaped seats. Very American feel. Brought back some old memories when I was staying in New York as a kid.

Classic C shaped chairs that you see in Diners and also in movies like 10 things I Hate About You, The OC, 90210, in typical teen movies where you can see them. Another thing that made it very American was that there were Chilli and Tomato sauce tubes on the table. Really American, they are just missing the Pepper & Salt shakers.

Mum wasn't so hungry so she decided to get a soup and share dad's food.

Man! The food was DELICIOUS! It really did bring me back to memory lane as I reminisce on the real authentic American food. It is definitely worth going and you guys will see me there quite often from now on haha.. Though there is a bad thing about New York Deli..

The food service was so slow! We waited about 20 mins for our food! My dad had to complain a few times as it was 9 p.m after dinner hours and there were only a few tables still eating and the food took 30 mins to arrive! That was quite bad.. Good thing that the food tasted great.. that was their saving grace!

Well it is a busy Christmas for my family today. Not the usual stuff that we normally do during this time of the year. But all in all it was a fun Christmas.

Tenji Japanese buffet BETTER THAN Jogoya!

Aha! I knew that would get your attention! Jogoya is probably the best place in Malaysia for a Japanese authentic buffet, but it cost RM 80+ so not a lot of people can afford it!

Well. Jogoya would have to fight for it's customers now!

December 19th is the birth of a new competitor of Jogoya, it is TENJI Japanese Buffet!

Right now they are having a promotion of RM29.90++ for the lunch time BUFFET! But the catch is that you have to eat within an hour, but for me it won't take me a long time to get my stomach full so it is an advantage that I bear and Sarah as well! But every subsequent hour, it is an additional RM10, which is still cheap! But for today, there was a Christmas promotion from the Original price of RM 77++ , or you can opt for RM49.90 for today and till the 15of Jan! No time Limit eat till u drop until 4 p.m!

Ah I tell you the food was just sensational! And so was the ambiance~! The layout of the restaurant was fantastic!

The 4 juices ( Pineapple, Kiwi, Pink Guava and Apple), and your selection of fresh fruits! (Apparently there was a choc fondue fountain according to my bro, which I totally missed!)

As you can see the place is just simple! And the food is just there! Ready To Be Consumed! You can say it was like a mini Jogoya!

Tenji serves not just the Japanese Cuisines such as your sashimi, sushi, Cold Soba, Tempura, Teppanyaki, but also western cuisines such as the roast lamb, pastas, typical Campbell soup, Cod and so on.

Here is the roast pork! It was succulent as mum put it!

Here is the Seafood Puff Soup! Basically its puff pastry over a bowl of enhanced mushroom soup. Very good that you don't taste a hint of Campbell written all over it! Or was it HOME Made!

Garden Salad... didn't touch it cause it was typical and everywhere has salad and their dressings so yea..

Oysters! They were pretty big! Compare it with a spoon!

The way that they cut the sashimi was so good! I like mine thickly sliced and it was just so nice!

Here are some of the selection of teppanyaki and tempura. Silly me i forgot to take a picture of the adjacent part of this bar. -.- There are more on the left side of tempura and fried stuff selection!

And here is the dessert bar! I tell you... You have a selection of Mochi (I think 6 flavours), choc mousse, Tiramisu, Choc cookies, cakes and more which I haven't tried, cause I already ate too much before the dessert! I just ate my mochi! The Black Sesame Mochi was just Orgasmic and to Die FOR!

And there is another surprise to place the Icing of the buffet...

They have HAAGEN-DAZs Ice-Cream! (Reminder the buffet is only Rm 49.50++ or Rm29.90++) They had 8 flavours to tickle your taste buds! And they had 2 of my favourite! Rum Raisins and Macadamia Nut! I was like! NO WAY!! HAHAH!!

When I saw this sign I just started to drool...

My dad's advice is, when you arrive at the restaurant you should eat the ice-cream first. haha... Yea. I know where he is comin from! Rm 8++ for a scoop of Haagen-Daz Ice-cream at Pavilion while you can get all you want in Tenji!!!

Here are a LITTLE of what I ate at Tenji today.

The grilled salmon was pretty nice! the Soft Shell Crab on the left of the Salmon steak was decent but nothing to shout about. Even the one at Sushi Zenmai is better!

These are the ones that you can grab off the serving platter, but there are also those that you have to specially order!

Ok there are these clips on your table rite, which are clips to identify your table with. For the special orders (included in the buffet OF COURSE..), where they cook it for you and it is sent to your table. All you have to do is to place your clip on to the bowl in front of the sample dish at the western selection buffet spread where the chef will cook it straight away and it will arrive at your table with the dish that you ordered and your clip, which you have given to them to identify the table that placed the order. Those who ate at Jogoya will know what I mean.

I can't remember the names of the following dishes but well in order, they are Cod, Spegetti served with Grilled Chicken and a slice of Emmantal cheese and Salmon Steak fillet. All were superb! There were other selections of pastas and also other steak like stuff but didn't want to try all cause I was already pretty full!

Well it's a pitty that I took little pictures. But I will be there soon! It was pretty random cause my parents were like lets go for a buffet at Tenji. I was like straight away shot out of bed and got dressed and left the house in 10 mins!

Don't ask about the hair ok.. just woke up, but I don't care :D I enjoyed my buffet today!

Since tomorrow is Christmas, and my bro's Birthday is on Boxing Day, i.e 26th Dec, we will be busy with a host of parties during the 12 days of Christmas, so we decided that that it was John's early Birthday Celebration! Happy Birthday Bro!

So overall I will say that the buffet was excellent but the thing is that their serving portions can be smaller cause I was so full! hehe...

Other than that if your looking for excellent quality Japanese cuisine then try TenJi Japanese Buffet as the quality of food is same as Jogoya, plus TenJi has HAAGEN DAZ!!!!

And the buffet is only....
for now till 15th Dec! If not the original price will be Rm 77++ for lunch and Rm 88++ during dinner!

Will definately visit there again before the promo ends!

Day Trip to Melaka: Part 1!

The last time I went to Melaka was on a vacation... When I was barely 5 years old. -.- So not much fond memories about that place so I was pretty excited about the trip. It will technically be the first time I visit Melaka!

The first thing that I noticed when we parked our car when we arrived in Melaka was that they were still using the old method of paying for the public parking! There were no coin machines but this...This my friends is the oldie version of the parking meter where you scrap off the dates and times in which you are using then parking for. Hmm... Quite the Old fashion eh?

After scratching off the relevent stuff on the card like as if I am scratching some lottery game or something, we went for lunch!
It was simple, humble and decent food. Food outside of KL, or can I say PJ, seems to be well obviously cheaper a lil-bit, but in terms of quality. Actually I prefer PJ food haha. some stuff tasted really weird. Like the dipping sauce u see at the bottom left of the picture. It was for the rice, as so I was told by the aunty who served us the food.. It was ok la the food.

After the lunch. We, as in my family, went to Tan Kim Hock Store, I am not sure if it was the original store though, which is Malaysia's proud home grown brand which sells special and tasty condiments and sweets for a long time!

As you can see, the store is filled with towers of the old fashion stuff. (Btw that is my bro on the left.)

As you can see from the pictures above they sell quite a few well reknowned condiments such as the durian paste, the peanut cookie things, Dodol, and Kit-Kat, which I found it really random, that all of a sudden I see an international product in a Chinese sweets store. Hmm...

We didn't buy much in the end though cause the shop was targeted at tourist, hence the high price, even back in PJ some of the condiments are much cheaper!

After that, we got back into our car and drove over to the famous Cendol store that the locals were talking about over there!

The shop was located in a corner lot. Entrance was small but when I entered I saw that it could fit roughly around not mre than 25 people. Hmm its like those hidden secret places where good food can be found. Maybe the locals did not want all the tourist to know, or else no more cendol!

The cendol had sago, coconut milk, red beans, the green things that makes it a chendol and it is served over shaved ice and gula melaka.

They also serve other food as well, like the rojak and the curry noodles. The cendol was pretty nice and refreshing as normally a cendol back in PJ did not consist gula Melaka and also sago, so it was an interesting change and I must say it was really good! On the other hand the rojak was pretty dissapointing, it was really bland and no taste. I didn't try the curry mee cause I have already pretty much full after lunch and just came to ate my cendol as the dessert.

I have to say you have to know when to cross the line, in everything that you do.

For a musician. I notice that there are 2 types of musicians. One who is so theoretically based over feel of the music, and one who feels the music over theories.

I'm the second type. Feel the music. When it comes to music expressions I do that. I look at the lyrics, decipher the meaning and play according to that feel and the emotion which runs through me and my own interpretation of the songs.

I do understand that theories are also important yes, but there is a flaw, a huge one for the fact. One can be so great and theories of music is great, but when you do not have feel, you can't grasp the meaning and emotions that drives through.

I have had enough of people telling what to do, cause I know I am correct in the way I play the music. My brother and another friend of mine had said that when I do not feel the music, I sound quiet, and on my part lose confidence in playing especially in the worship team, I can't worship. Whenever I feel the song, according to my brother, he notice that I strum the guitar like normal using my arms as well, and he can see that I am feeling the song and ultimately grooving and worshiping.

I have this one person, who doesn't know what he is talking about and he gets things wrong. Since the first day that I have been on the worship team, I have been criticized by him. I know that some are correct that I am wrong in my playing or so, but now that I have gotten better at the guitar, and I'm now at the best of my life in playing the guitar, I know when I am right and when I am wrong. This guy just talks crap.. ok? I just want to put it direct as I don't want to talk around the bush.

I do not just voice this out on my own accord and opinion but also others who I do not want to mension the names who have felt the same way, who really can't "tahan"(can't take it anymore). I have even tested him on occasions and so have another friend of mine, both are on the worship team and others also who have felt the difficulty working with this person, and has proven so that he doesn't know what he is talking about. I guess its his ego and he is too smart for himself. That is his downfall.

I really can't take it anymore. How on earth am I suppose to excel in my music abilities? If I am wrong all the time, then might as well I do not play the guitar anymore.

Do you know that it really hurts my morale, confidence in playing the guitar? Imagine you got the feel and you know it is 110% right and to be bombarded and say that it is wrong? He keeps saying that he follows the drum beat. Hello? I do as well ok? If Not HOW DO I GET THE GROOVE AND FEEL OF THE MUSIC!

Jon Koo even knows that when I'm not confident that my playing becomes "shy" and not what I would normally play.

Sometimes I feel that I want to put in a request to not put me in the same worship team as that fella or even to leave the worship team.

Somebody help me...

Busy few days...

Hey all.

Sorry for the delay in post. I have been busy with a lot of stuff since Thursday was the last day of my exams.

After the exams on Thursday, the class and I went to watch an assignment related video work from my former class mates from Mass Comm and other seniors and I must say it was pretty impressive will probably choose that subject for my elective in my final semester.

At night we went for steamboat with my lecturers, Ms. Jo and Ms. Jenny. It was fun I must say not just to eat the food but, together as a class (Chloe and Kent were MIA) and with our beloved lecturers.

On Friday was my cell party that I was hosting along side with Sue Ling and my cell members. The cells have been working hard for the few weeks in the preparations for the food, the program structure and the invitations. Great Job guys!

Then yesterday, Was the YA Christmas Service. Worship could have been better, the crowd was not feeling it though… Food for thought? But I must say, that I enjoyed the food after the service. Its ‘Bread Crusted Chicken Chop in Black Pepper Sauce’, well that’s what I called it.

Well I’m now just relaxing waiting for the Arsenal vs. Liverpool game. That is a massive game!

Tomorrow is D-Day

Depends on when you read this post. when I mean tomorrow is D-Day I mean Thursday is the day. but if you are reading it on Thursday, so it will be today is D-day. but since I am writing this post on Weds night, then tomorrow is D-Day.. ok...

Tomorrow is the last exam of the semester. Gone through reading all the notes, all the tutorial questions and now I m just taking a break from my 3rd read through of my notes.

Hey. 3 read throughs are enough for me ok... I know I've got friends smarter than me and read through like 10 more times. but hey! I guess I found a method of study that works.

My study method:

Enjoy your short breaks in between your revision as to the fullest as possible. '
take long breaks if you have to
Read and Understand every word. Not every sentence. As what TMC would say.
Repeat through every theories, processes and notes until you are sick and tired of looking at your notes.
Do last min study. It works for mE! :D
Drink lots of coffee the night before exam. If I am really going for the midnight oil burning. Might as well go all the way rite?

yea.. Thats about it. I guess..

I found out that I am one of those people who enjoys doing last minute study and assignments because I like the adrenaline to force me to be productive, like I'm on extacy but I'm lovin it every bit. AND I hate to do a little bit at a time. U know do bit day by day. Lucky for those who can do it. But I can't. Don't know why. But. Thats the way I am. Got a prob talk to me.

I am still getting my grades when I do, do last min. Thats my style, my way.

But I'm not last min with God.

Anyways. back to book worming. OH and to refill my dose of coffee

Finished the marketing management today. Thank God it was ok. slightly easier than I thought it would be. Now I 've got a short lived rest 2mr before the FINAL paper on Thursday, Thank God for that as well.. I think it's the hardest paper of all the others I have taken. Marketing Communications Research. That's going to be one long paper.

Yea.. here was my burger. The Beef Prosperity Burger. Hmm... It didn't taste as good as the last time I ate it. Quoting my mum ' it was not as savoury and pepperish' as the last time we had that during CNY earlier this year.

Seriously the price shocked me. For the set meal with the curly fries and ur Sprite with Minute-maid orange juice cost at RM 13 according to my mum. Then the ala carte, just for the burger, it cost RM 8. I was like ( -.-") ... 8 Ringgit? gosh it was just slightly bigger than my Apple pie!If my mum had called me to tell me it cost so much, I would have gotten my old favourite classic Big Mac Set only like RM 9!

What shocked me was that Liang ate the full set including the McFlurry ice-cream and not just the Beef Prosperity, but Double Prosperity Beef patties and it cost RM18.

I think McD just set their new record for the most expensive meal!

You can buy other great food for RM8 and I have to say the Beef Prosperity was not worth the money.

Went to Giant at Kota Damansara with my mum in the morn. My parents were right! It is the biggest Giant in Malaysia! Bigger than the one in Kelana Jaya!

Was actually suppose to buy the trinkets and streamers and other decor items at IKEA and Tesco, but my mum suggested that I go to Giant first as it might be cheaper, and they were!

Just came home around half an hour ago, helped mum put in the groceries and stuff away and now after checking my mail and reading blogs and watching vblogs, I m gonna go back to revision...

I just read this post by Daniel Franklin, a blogger who I subscribe to and read interesting posts.

His post basically expresses his hate to the Shah Alam MBSA (Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam) on how they not just capture stray or lost dogs (Like Daniel Franklin, I think cats should be placed in this equation as well.. I HATE F***ing CATS!!!) on the roads, but also breaking in to resident's homes to capture PETS!

C'mon I can't believe these people can't tell the difference between pets and strays that loiters around streets threatening people and pooping like nobody's business and carrying God knows what diseases!

OK.. maybe they do know the difference , but as pointed out by Daniel, they are so so money driven, as money is the root of all evil! well, not all the time. :D

Gosh RM 45 per dog is great! Even I want to do that! BUT! They are driven to steal people's pets which are 'owned' and not 'LOST', that is just MORALLY wrong!

Hmm.. it just hit me that my first exam starts next Tuesday and it 'had' to start with Psychology! hm..

well these are the problems that I am facing...

Next Weds is my presentation and report submission for Marketing Management.
Next Thursday is a Christmas play conducted by IAA70, and I am in the mids of writing the scenes so that this coming Thursday myself and 3 others will be writing up scripts for the cast to act in.
I haven't really read through my Psychology notes either!

Crap! I skipped my first ever Marketing Management class .. sad...cause was rushing an assignment that was due today. Thank God Ms. Jenny was such a sweet heart and allowed us to submit a soft copy by midnight :D Mayb cause she is Indon. Indon people are much much nicer than Us MAlaysians!

Yea so was rushing it from9 a.m till 6 p.m!

Ms Jenny was like. allowing 7 out of 12 to complete the assignment during class. What did the other 5 do? Well They got to do a class essay! HAHAH!!!

Well we had thisother assignment. Both Due on the same day. Now I really don't care about today! Just enjoy the rest of the night and enjoy creating sets for the Christmas Play.

Too busy to go to bed? Having trouble getting quality sleep once you do? Your health may be at risk.

You may literally have to add it to your to-do list, but scheduling a good night's sleep could be one of the smartest health priorities you set. It's not just daytime drowsiness you risk when shortchanging yourself on your seven to eight hours. Possible health consequences of getting too little or poor sleep can involve the cardiovascular, endocrine, immune and nervous systems. In addition to letting life get in the way of good sleep, between 50 and 70 million Americans suffer from a chronic sleep disorder—insomnia or sleep apnea, say—that affects daily functioning and impinges on health. Consider the research:

1) Less may mean more. For people who sleep under seven hours a night, the fewer zzzz's they get, the more obese they tend to be, according to a 2006 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report. This may relate to the discovery that insufficient sleep appears to tip hunger hormones out of whack. Leptin, which suppresses appetite, is lowered; ghrelin, which stimulates appetite, gets a boost.

2) You're more apt to make bad food choices. A study published in the October 15, 2008 issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that people with obstructive sleep apnea or other severely disordered breathing while asleep ate a diet higher in cholesterol, protein, total fat, and total saturated fat. Women were especially affected.

3) Diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance, its precursor, may become more likely. A 2005 study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that people getting five or fewer hours of sleep each night were 2.5 times more likely to be diabetic, while those with six hours or fewer were 1.7 times more likely.

4) The ticker is put at risk. A 2003 study found that heart attacks were 45 percent more likely in women who slept for five or fewer hours per night than in those who got more.

5) Blood pressure may increase. Obstructive sleep apnea, for example, has been associated with chronically elevated daytime blood pressure, and the more severe the disorder, the more significant the hypertension, suggests the 2006 IOM report. Obesity plays a role in both disorders, so losing weight can ease associated health risks.

6) Auto accidents rise. As stated in a 2007 report in the New England Journal of Medicine, nearly 20 percent of serious car crash injuries involve a sleepy driver—and that's independent of alcohol use.

7) Balance is off. Older folks who have trouble getting to sleep, who wake up at night, or are drowsy during the day could be 2 to 4.5 times more likely to sustain a fall, found a 2007 study in the Journal of Gerontology.

8) You may be more prone to depression. Adults who chronically operate on fumes report more mental distress, depression, and alcohol use. Adolescents suffer, too: One survey of high school students found similarly high rates of these issues. Middle schoolers, too, report more symptoms of depression and lower self-esteem.

9) Kids may suffer more behavior problems. Research from an April issue of the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found that children who are plagued by insomnia, short duration of sleeping, or disordered breathing with obesity, for example, are more likely to have behavioral issues like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

10) Death's doorstep may be nearer. According to three large studies published in the journals Sleep and the Archives of General Psychiatry, people over age 30 who slept five hours or less per night had approximately a 15 percent greater risk of dying—regardless of the cause—over the periods studied, which ranged from six to 14 years.

Happy Birthday Sarah !

Woah I came back 2 hrs ago, from a wonderful party. People had the impression that all 21st birthdays have to be extravagant classy and so much money spent, just like those "spoiled brats" on that MTV show, Sweet 16.

Well I came from a 21st birthday which was simple yet I feel was more realistic and also way more of a personal touch with a bunch of Sarah's closest friends which I prefer! there were 38 of us at Sarah's house in Subang. I was like WOAH! 38 people! Deng the cooks will have lots of hungry stomachs to feed!

One phrase of the food. IT TASTED SO GOOD!

Gosh! Sarah and her siblings are so blessed to eat wonderful glorious food everyday! The meal today consisted of Roast Lamb Leg, two I must say, roasted potatoes, traditional Spaghetti meatballs with bolognese sauce, garden salad, capsicums with cheese and last but not least home made Chocolate cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream !

As all professional chefs love to say, that it is always good to keep things simple and it always becomes delicious, and it was evident today that the food was made with love and care and certainly did hit the spot! It was a hearty and delicious meal and I wanna say it was such a joy to eat. Confession: I had 3 helpings of food, but only one of cake cause I was so darn full!

I was suppose to give Sarah's mum a hand in the kitchen but pity it suddenly poured down with rain like there's no tomorrow! God ! It was FREAKIN JaM!! I had to send out an sms to Sarah that I was not able to arrive on time as I was stuck like a sardine in a can!

Ahh...btw Sarah's mum was my mum's friend back when they were in Canada studying! Hmm. It would be interesting to sit down with Sarah's fam and mine for dinner one day hahah! Since both fathers are golf enthusiast and both mum's cook great food and have wonderful families :D haha

After the dinner, we had performances by a few people including Amanda, Grace and myself! God it was spontanious and I couldnt sing cause I had cake down my throat! Remembering what Liang told me: dont eat stuff with choc or milk! Not good for throat when going to sing!"

All in all it was a great night! Sarah when u read this I wanna tell u. thank you and your family for inviting me to your lovely home, and thank you for including me for your belated 21st birthday celebration and it has been great knowing you, and your note that I wrote to you is safely stored away and will pass it to you on Saturday!

Yes, I regretted buying guitar gears from someone I trusted especially when he was my guitar mentor and sold me Digitech pedals and said that they were good, but that time I was still new to the guitar world. I spend a Marathon essay report for Psychology from 11 p.m till 5:30 in the morning. I guess the psychology assignment was harder than I thought, my cockiness got the better of me this time.. but thankfully I managed to produce satisfactory work, obviously not my best that I can do, but I did my very best in the limited time I have.

I'm now in my psychology lecture. more than half the class with their laptops open constantly typing or some just sitting there pondering. Most likely rushing the assignment, just as my Psychology lecturer pointed out. *grins* Its due when the class is over. Hence the reason why I stayed up so late sacrificing sleep for rushing the due time of handing up the assignment in less than 40 mins time :). Definately sacrifice with out question!

I feel so relaxed now... watching the rush of my fellow classmates contemplating which theories of psychology to use and fretting about laptops hanging, running in and out of class to print! (I saw my lectuere gaving that evil smile as he eye-balls every individual not focusing on the class topic, laptop gaggers, speedy gonzales running in and out.

haha I am just enjoying the moment! HAHAHAHA!

My Top 10 music addiction for the year 2008

I was watching the EMA Liverpool 06.11.08 rerun today. Hostess and hosts are Katy Parry, Jared Leto running the segment of 'Strange things that people do' (basically going round the set up UK style pub where the artist and stars are chilling, and Perez Hilton on the red carpet.

An interesting thing i noticed during the EMA was that though EMA stands for "European Music Award" but... American airwaves have been in dominance since quite awhile, I must say I kinda miss the awesomeness of the British music! It has been quite a mildly hyped year for British music. Hope next year there will be more stuff from the UK! BTW check out this rock band, The Wombats, version of Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love! url here. I tried looking for the EMA live one, but it seems like it has not been released yet!

When it comes to getting ahead in the world of work, some people make it look so easy. It's almost as if they know of a secret fast track that's helped propel them from one level to the next. They land jobs at the best companies, impress all the right people and seem to be promoted even before the ink on the job offer is dry.

On the other hand, the world of work is certainly filled with people who just can't seem to climb the next rung of the corporate ladder. No matter how hard they try or how badly they want it, being promoted seems impossible.

Susan Britton Whitcomb identifies the characteristics and behaviors that differentiate these two types of people in her book, "30-Day Job Promotion." "Having interviewed numerous managers and worked with hundreds of career-minded clients over the years, a clear pattern has emerged: Those with the greatest promotablility demonstrated a blend of hard skills and, more importantly, soft skills. For example, confidence, critical thinking and commitment," Whitcomb says.

But what about people who can't position themselves in the promotion pipeline? Why aren't they moving forward, even though they're perfectly qualified for a higher-level position? A significant part of the problem may be that, because of their attitudes and behaviors, decision-makers ruled them out of consideration for a promotion long before the option was available.

According to Whitcomb, there are several mistakes people can make that will hinder their chances of being promoted or earning the support of their superiors and colleagues. In "30-Day Job Promotion," she outlines seven faux pas:

1. Not dressing, speaking or acting the part
When it comes to being promoted, looks do matter. If you don't look the part, it will be much more difficult for decision-makers to envision you in it. Instead of dressing sloppily or inappropriately, strive to dress in a manner similar to people two levels above you.

2. Being unprepared with talking points about the value you'd bring to the position

Just because the decision-maker in the promotion process is already familiar with you doesn't mean you're done proving yourself to him or her. Highlight your skills, knowledge and strengths to reinforce your return on investment.

3. Being deceitful or underhanded
If you're acting friendly and respectful to superiors one moment and undermining them behind their backs the next, you risk developing a reputation for being two-faced and untrustworthy.

4. Being clueless about the big picture
Decision-makers want to know that promoting you will impact the company's bottom line. If you can't convince them that your new ideas and extra effort will achieve the company's goals, you probably won't gain their buy-in for a promotion.

5. Pouting or grousing
It's important for leaders to exude a positive attitude at all times -- both good and bad. Decision-makers will never be able to support you as a leader, worthy of promotion, if you're being bitter, negative or dismissive of others because you don't get your way at work.

6. Expecting a promotion without going above and beyond in your current position
Some people mistakenly believe that because they do their job well and do what's asked of them, they're entitled to a promotion. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Employers want to advance employees who exceed their expectations and are willing to take on more than what their job description entails.

7. Overusing the terms "my career" or "promotion" in discussions with your manager
In most situations, your employer's needs come before your own. Therefore, expressing that you'd like to take your career to the next level won't get you nearly as far as something such as, "I'm committed to doing everything I can to help this company grow and succeed."

"Remember, getting promoted is not for the faint of heart," Whitcomb says. "To climb the ladder, you'll need a proactive plan, proof of performance, the right perception of you, perseverance and a positive attitude."

wow! back at college after 6 days!

[Back at college... looking at familiar faces again]

Reason why it's 6 days is cause last week i had Monday and Tuesday of classes only. Weds to Monday ( i.e yesterday), was such a good time of relaxing and getting my sleep patterns on track!

It was a great weekend by the way, Liverpool won!
Today was like class all over again!

Was darn early today for class... I thought there was Psychology at 9a.m so i came to college at 8:45.. on the master timetable, it says that there is no Psychology class today... -.- figures... anyways... Me and my gang of friends who are early as well, went off to the library to "study". Why it's in speech marks? Cause some of us were distracted!

I was so darn hungry in class, I can't even think of anything else but the Marmite chi yok fan (Marmite Pork Rice), in the corner shop! (Sorry Ms. May! It was only for the first half of class!)

At 1:30 p.m, we got our half hour lunch break! My Gosh! I thought lunch would never come! Me, Karmen, Clement, Shermaine and Ken went downstairs to the next door corner coffee shop and feasted! (Don't think that's gramatically correct hahaa!)

Ahh... What a satisfying lunch! We head back for the 2nd half of Ms. May's Marketing Management class and was reminded of our exam classes and when it was going to be postponed.. sigh....
